ActiveXperts Network Monitor ODBC Monitoring

ActiveXperts Network Monitor is a software solution you need to scan your network servers, workstations and devices for failures or irregularities. With ActiveXperts Network Monitor, you can identify issues and fix unexpected problems before your others even know they've happened.
ActiveXperts Network Monitor maximizes network availability by monitoring all aspects of your servers, workstations, switches, routers, printers and any other devices. It can also detect temperature, humidity and other environmental aspects in your server rooms.

ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is a widely accepted API (application programming interface) for accessing databases, based on the Call-Level Interface (CLI) specifications. It uses SQL as its database access language.

ODBC is designed for maximum interoperability. Database applications make function calls in the ODBC interface; these calls are implemented in so called database-drivers.

ActiveXperts Network Monitor uses ODBC to check availability of a variety of databases. The vast majority of the database systems support ODBC, incl.: MS SQL Server, MS Access, Oracle, Paradox, SyBase, Informix, OpenIngres, Progress and AS/400.

Configure ODBC first from the Windows control panel.

An ActiveXperts Network monitor ODBC check requires the following parameters:

  • ODBC DSN Name - the ODBC DSN (Data Source Name). This DSN entry must be configured on the server where the ActiveXperts Network Monitor service is running;
  • Username/Login - credentials required to access the database;
  • Password - credentials required to access the database.
